It was not fun trying to get the counter reset which happened on a weekend and took several days to restore! Like I said, activation only pisses off paying customers. I have with ACID Pro 7.0 which is so old, it's been on too many of my hard drives apparently.

IMHO, all of these activation checks are an insult to the customer who buys your software and a reward to pirates that remove such draconian checks from their versions and don't have to deal with them. I wish more companies would follow this method. While this is an all or nothing solution, it is a solution that always works and always keeps the customer in control. With iTunes they give you the ability to disable all licenses from your on-line account in case you can't get to a computer.
